Curated for Ad's Sake #6: Jessica Njoo
Design Director & Shutterbug on the beauty of Japanese design & American trash
Great people in and around advertising have great taste in art.
I wanted to know what turns them on, so I asked them about their artistic fascinations and inspirations.
🧑🎨 You’re welcome.
Jessica Njoo is an incredibly talented, multi-faceted Design Director and Art Director from Melbourne – currently Design Director at ERA-co. She likes salted popcorn, fried rice, slightly sad films and cycling home at sunset. And OMG so many skills. She’s a consummate chef and has graced my life with many a great pizza recipe, and also a superb shutterbug – she took an extremely good photo of yours truly once upon a time. But enough about how photogenic I am…
Let’s get it 🍕
🦩 Cyril Lancelin / Town and Concrete
Just a reminder that not everything you see is AI generated. Lancelin has such an incredible imagination - often beyond words.
💅 Jennifer Coolidge x WMAG x Daniels
The icon. A Powerhouse. Everyone needs to find their inner JC.
Actually reminds me of X-Files X David LaChapelle. Shivers.
📷 Forever Saul Leiter.
Forever and ever. In London I used to walk around Soho at lunch with my friend Manzi and we would chat about beauty, life, moments.
📸 Sarah Pannell
I’ve worked with Sarah on a couple of projects and just dig her photographic style. Nostalgic, meditative, observational - she basically captures in the way I wish everything looked.
🇯🇵 21_21 Design Sight
Tadao Ando and Issey Mitake making magic. A design museum in Tokyo that has a rotating calendar of excellent exhibitions curated by the Miyake Foundation. When I was recently in Japan I visited the museum - the space is brutal and beautiful.
Lucky we're getting a slice of Ando with the next MPavillion!
😶🌫️ Taro Okamoto
A sculptor, a painter, a writer, a dreamer. His house is such a fascinating insight into a creative mind. Welcome to the explosive space!
Thanks Jess 🏄♂️ You can follow her on IG.
